DESCRIPTION:Bookstore and library staff are often asked whether their old books have any monetary or collectible value. \nOne of the best local sources for these questions is Annette Kolling-Buckley\, owner of Columbia Books\, an antiquarian bookstore now celebrating its 45th year in business. Annette is one of only three Missouri members of the prestigious Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America. She regularly does assessments for libraries and businesses throughout the state\, and her appraisals are accepted for tax purposes. Bring one or two books for her appraisal during this program.

DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, migration from the Northern Triangle across the U.S.-Mexico border has emerged as a flashpoint in domestic politics. Lost in pundit and politicians’ lurid descriptions of migrant caravans\, child separation\, and the border “crisis” is the historical roots of U.S. relations with Honduras\, El Salvador\, and Guatemala. \nDr. Micah Wright\, assistant professor of history\, will provide an overview of this history\, from the Cold War to the Biden Administration\, highlighting the evolution of U.S. migration law and popular opinion in the hopes of contributing to a more nuanced discussion of border security and immigration policy.
