End of Life Doulas are non-medical individuals trained and certified to provide important services at the end of life. While common in different forms around the world, their holistic work accepts death as a natural and honored part of life, recognizing the need for emotional, social and spiritual support to help a patient an family. It’s a service that is becoming more needed, owing to our growing population of elders and the wish of many at the end of life who wish to be at home.
Doula Mickey Havener will discuss the varied work she undertakes with her patients and how her care emphasizes dignity, legacy and presence. 2-3:30 p.m.
