Cole County Sherriff’s Office
The Cole County Sheriff’s Department has been serving the citizens of Cole County since 1821. Cole County is located in the central part of the State of Missouri. The Sheriff’s Department is responsible for 399 square miles and provides service to 75,018 (per the 2010 census) citizens. Cole County houses the state Capitol as well as state government offices, headquarters for multiple law enforcement agencies, federal, state and local courthouses, two large hospitals, university, college and two state correctional facilities that house over 3,400 inmates. The Cole County Sheriff’s Department consists of 4 Divisions: Administration; Support Services; Jail and Patrol. In August 2011, the Cole County Sheriff’s Department opened a new jail. This state of the art facility houses up to 180 inmates with potential for further expansion.
